hunger games
The way things are going to work on ONE is quite simple. Though if you've never seen the movie, and haven't read any of the books it won't make any sense. To try and make it as descriptive as possible, I'm going to approach every aspect I can of The Hunger Games. So, to start things off, I will start at the beginning and describe all that I can. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the shoutbox, or message me. Someone will have an answer I'm certain! The districts
There are 13 Districts to choose from, but only 12 of them participate in The Hunger Games.- District 1 - District 1 is one of the thirteen districts of Panem. Its industry is making luxury items for the Capitol. Due to the nature of its industry, it's considered the wealthiest district, the only other wealthier area being the Capitol itself. It is a Career District. Little else is known about this district.
- District 2 - District 2's seal depicts a block of stone and carving tools. The district's public presentation is that of stone quarries, but it also manufactures weaponry, makes trains, and supplies Peacekeepers. The main military complex in the district is known as The Nut. Citizens of District 2 are sometimes called "the pets" of the Capitol. They are the biggest supporters of the Capitol and therefore are pampered and given many extra conveniences.
- District 3 - District 3's primary industry is general electronics of many types, though it is known for also making various mechanical products such as automobiles and firearms. Their tributes are skilled with electronics.
[li]District 5 - District 5's industry is power.[/li]
[li]District 6 - District 6's industry is transportation. In the 75th Hunger Games, two of the past winners ended up becoming morphling addicts which may suggest a high use in this drug. Little else is known about District 6. [/li]
[li]District 7 - District 7's industry is lumber and many of its residents have experience with hatchets, axes, saws, and other tree cutting tools. Also, Katniss notes that this district's children begin work at an early age. Katniss and Peeta had to travel through District 7 to get to the Capitol.[/li]
[li]District 8 - District 8's industry is the production of textiles, and they have at least one factory that is primarily used for making Peacekeeper uniforms. It was the first district to rebel after Katniss Everdeen spurred the revolution. The rebellion worsened conditions for residents and some, including Bonnie and Twill, escaped. However, Bonnie and Twill never made it to safety in District 13.[/li]
[li]District 9 - District 9 is the least heard about District in the series. District 9's industry is grain. Little is known about this district, just that there are lots of farmland for grain.[/li]
[li]District 10 - Livestock is District 10's industry. Not much is known about this district, but some known information is that its marriage rituals are similar to that of District 4's.[/li]
[li]District 11 - District 11's industry is agriculture - orchards and fields of grain and cotton surround the district. Almost everything grown is shipped directly to the Capitol. It is one of the poorest districts in Panem, second only to District 12. In addition, it is also one of the districts where the Peacekeepers are the strictest. Ironically, this directly results in its residents generally being malnourished and underfed despite its focus on agriculture.[/li]
[li]District 12 - District 12 is located somewhere near what was the Appalachian mountains. Its main industry is coal mining. The district has the distinction of being one of the poorest districts, if not the outright poorest, in all of Panem.[/li]
[li]District 13 - District 13 is the last of the thirteen districts of Panem that was thought to be destroyed by the Capitol during the first rebellion. It's said to be uninhabitable, the ruins still smoldering from the toxic bombs dropped on it. However, the district is actually fully operational but hidden underground, and in an agreement with the Capitol to remain independent and in exchange, not to start a nuclear war with Panem. Its industries were mining graphite and nuclear science/technology. The Capitol had agreed to leave the people of District 13 alone, therefore they do not participate in the Hunger Games.[/li][/ul]
The Reaping
When it comes to reaping, no one is safe. Unless of course you're under the age of 12, which means 0-11, or over the age of 18, so 19 and up. If you're 12-18 years old, your name is automatically entered into the games. Of course there is a random drawing to choose the tributes. There is only one male, and one female from each participating District. Some people never get chosen, and they consider themselves lucky. Some would prefer to be chosen and go for the riches. Everyone gathers into the designated location for each of their districts. A speaker from the Capitol comes and chooses a name from two separate containers. On a piece of paper is the name of a male or female tribute. Tributes will be messaged so that they can prepare themselves and their characters, but must not tell anyone they have been chosen. You might be told a day before the official reaping thread is posted, or it may be a few days. This is chosen at random so everyone is kept curious. You do have the option of not being messaged if chosen as a tribute in the registration form. There is also the option for volunteering. When a reaping is coming up, you have a week before names are randomly generated to offer a character as tribute. By doing so, your character's name is not added to the random name generator. Your character can either Volunteer for the chosen person, or go they may volunteer before any names have been chosen. It is your decision as a volunteer, and your responsibility to decide. We will message both the person volunteering and the chosen tribute to let them know of the situation. The two of you can then message each other, must be privately discussed, and decide how to have things happen.
Once you've been reaped, there is no way out. You are stuck, and really there is no way to avoid it any way. You will follow the Capitol speaker and the rest of the guards, and Capitol residences. Since we are hosting the first ever Hunger Games, there are currently no previous victors. So you will have to work on things yourself. Once we get past the first Hunger Games the previous victors will be able to mentor the next set of tributes from your District.
The Games
The games will be a bit difficult to keep up with. When the games are going, a hidden category will be revealed. There will be three separate boards for you to view, and post within. The Arena, The Personal, and The Capitol Updates. The Arena will be split up into sub-boards. Each sub-board will be a certain section of the first, and they will be in order. You must post in each one, and be sure to read the board description. It will inform you of everything that is within that certain area. You can't post in one sub-board unless you posted in the previous sub-board. This is so everyone posts in every area. There will be a mass thread for each section, and if your character is still alive then you must post in it. Whether they are out in the open, or hidden. Either way, mass threads for the Hunger Games are required if you're a tribute.
Also, if you do not post in a mass thread, you risk being killed off or badly injured for 'not paying attention'. Might seem cruel, but we need active tributes. Being inactive, or disappearing from the site will cause your character to die. When attacking other people, you must use the following chart to decide on damage;
hand-to-hand = 1 points
Guns = 2 points
daggers(swords,knives...etc) = 3 points
Bows = 4 points
Other = 5 points
After using one of the above techniques, you will add up the amount of points you used an items. Used two bullets? you would get 4 points of damage on the opponent. After you do your damage, message it to the admin as well as posting it in the thread. describe that you shot two bullets at them and received only 4 points of damage at the target. The other person will follow this list:
dodge = 1 points
block = 2 points
hit = -3 points
hide = 4 points
other = 5 points
The above is a defensive chart. Whatever your attack score was, 4 points for example, if they dodged once they will knock off 1 point from your score. leaving you with only 3 points of damage. everyone has 40 health points in the hunger games. once you're damaged you cannot regain health unless you receive something from a sponsor. in order to receive, a sponsor gift of health you must catch the eye of an admin by doing something exceptional. you may also earn sponsor gifts by doing the following:
500 words = 2 health points
1000 words = 4 health points
2000 + words = 8 health points
nominated for an award = 10 health points
winning an award = 20 health points
advertising = 5 health points
The above list is all of the available sponsors. The sponsor gifts give you more health points. There will be a health points chart in The capitol updates. it will be charted for everyone who has how many damage points so far. keep an eye on your character. once your character gets down to 10-5 health points, you will receive a message from a staff member. they will ask if your character will be killed, or faint. If you choose Faint, then they will faint and be restored back to their 40 points. You're only allowed one faint throughout the whole hunger games.
Though you're not allowed to kill a character off without permission, you can still do a heck of a lot of damage. Be fair, and curtious. When in the Hunger Games your threads will be watched closely. Tributes are also not allowed to post anywhere else when in the Hunger Games. The only place they can post in is the Hunger Games event board, and the past board. Everything else, roleplaying wise, is off-limits.
Please remember when doing an attack you need to pm your: Attack #, to the admin. Or else it will not count.
